Cadet First Aid Competitions - March 2008 Print E-mail

Men Treating Casualty During CompetitionSt John Ambulance, Cork City, was proud to play host to over 40 cadet teams from around the country. Competitors registered at our headquarters at 6 Victoria Road before being transported to the competition venue at the premises of Nemo Rangers.

The competition consisted of 4 different scenarios that included burns, fractures, heart attacks, bleeding and head injuries. Each team of 4 was allowed only 10 minutes to treat their casualties. They were scored by judges including nurses and paramedics. After the competition, each team was briefed by the judge on how they did.

St John Ambulance, Cork City, would like to thank Nemo Rangers for making their facility available for us to use. Without their continued support, a competition of such scale could not have easily been catered for. We would also like to thank Casualty Union for helping with the make up that allowed us to make the competitions as realistic as possible for the cadets.
