St. John Ambulance Cork - Successful first meeting in Glanmire! Print E-mail

St John Ambulance instructor talking to class

St. John Ambulance Cork were extremely delighted at the fantastic turnout for the inaugural meeting of the Glanmire Unit.  Over 20 adults and 17 children arrived for their respective meetings, expressing a great interest in signing up for the division. We thank them for their continued support for the last number of weeks, and hope they all enjoyed their first night in the organisation!

Over the coming weeks, we aim to build on the success of the introductory first aid course, and begin to develop the skills of the members of the Glanmire unit. This will be done with the help of members from the Cork City Division, who will combine theory with practical demonstrations to enable the members to learn new techniques they might not have come across before.

We have had queries from a number of interested people who, due to other commitments, were unable to attend the Open Day or the Introductory First Aid Course. We would like to stress that there is absolutely no problem if you were unable to make either of those days. We would be delighted if you came down to us and discuss your options for first aid certification. If there is sufficient demand, we would be more than happy to run another course in the immediate future.

If you already have first aid or other similar qualifications such as Cardiac First Responder (CFR), Emergency First Responder (EFR), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or even if you work for the statutory services as a Paramedic, Advanced Paramedic, Nurse or Doctor and feel that you could contribute some of your knowledge to a group of willing people, then please get in touch with us with the “Contact Us” button above, and we would be delighted to talk with you.

The unit meets on Wednesday evenings between 7pm and 9pm for both age groups in seperate rooms. The venue is the Glanmire Community College, and ample parking is available.

We look forward to working with you, and thank Glanmire Community College, the people of Glanmire, and those who have come down to the unit with the intention of joining. We are grateful for your continued support. Please visit our official Facebook page to see more of the work that St. John Ambulance undertakes around the country.
